Packhorse Hut Hike

We started early (at about 8am), and was greeted with a wonderful sunrise. This is the gate leading to the trail.

Morning mist blankets the bay. Sugarloaf Communications Tower is shown as a faint pointy object about mid-left of the photo.

Apparently, the actual start of the trail is at the fence, in front of the three guys ahead.

A curious resident looks on as we walk by.

The type of trail that the group had to traverse. It rained hard the night before, and it was almost winter, so the ground was soggy and slippery.

Exhausted, but made it to the top. Rewarded with a beautiful, panoramic view of the peninsula.

A plaque inside the hut wall, describing the hut's history.

Behind me is the Port Hills. Below it is the bay, obscured by another hill (I'm unsure what hill it is).

The hut's long-drop toilet.
